============================ Trail (Photoshop Script) ========================= (c) 2015, PurePerfection, http://graphicriver.net/user/PurePerfection/portfolio =============================================================================== Hi, Thank you very much for purchasing this script! Please read the manual below. And feel free to contact me if any questions. Good luck with your creative projects! And thank you for your support! Best regards, PurePerfection http://graphicriver.net/user/PurePerfection ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REQUIREMENTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. This script has been tested and working on English version of Photoshop: CS4, CS5, CS6, CC, CC2014. (The script may work with _some_ non-English versions of Photoshop, you can try it and check if it works fine in your particular case. If it does not work, you can switch the Photoshop language as described below.) !!! If you have a non-English version of Photoshop, you can easily switch it to the English one at any moment and then switch back again to your native language. This video explains how to switch the language: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJAiu5W2gLE 2. The photo must be in "8bit RGB" color mode. Because most of Photoshop filters work with "8bit RGB" photos only. Please use "Image -> Mode" Photoshop menu to check/change the image color mode. 3. The photo size must be at least 1000 x 1000 px. Please upscale the photo if it is small. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO USE THE SCRIPT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Open a photo with Photoshop. 2. Be sure that the photo layer is on the "Background" layer. (The Background is locked and has "Background" name.) If the photo is on a usual layer, you can set it as the Background using "Layer -> New -> Background from Layer" Photoshop menu. 3. Create a new layer and rename it to "brush" (without quotes). Use ONLY lowercase letters. !!! Correct layer name: brush Incorrect: Brush Incorrect: BRUSH 4. Select the "brush" layer and brush onto the areas of the photo that you want to be affected by the photo effect. You can use any brush color. ! Be sure that the brushed area is not too small or too thin. 5. The script will create a long trail and the trail needs enough space on the photo. So, please, before running the script, use Photoshop menu "Image -> Canvas size..." to add more space in the desired direction. 3000px of space is usually enough. Let's say, you have a 2000 x 2000 px photo of a bird flying to the left. And you wish to add a trail to the right. So, use "Image -> Canvas size..." menu to add 3000 px (or more) to the photo at the right side, so the photo size becomes 5000 x 2000 px. 6. Start the script with "File -> Scripts -> Browse..." Photoshop menu. The script file has JSXBIN file extension, so you may need to select "Adobe Javascript Binary File, *.JSXBIN" in drop down list of the Photoshop "Load" dialog window to see the script file. ! If you are going to use the script often, it is a good idea to place it to the Photoshop "\Presets\Scripts" folder. In this case you will see the script in the Photoshop's "File -> Scripts" menu. The default path to the "\Presets\Scripts" folder for Photoshop CS5 is: Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Scripts\... Mac:  \Applications\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Scripts\... It is similar for other versions. ! You need to restart Photoshop after placing the script to "\Presets\Scripts" folder to see the script name in "File -> Scripts" menu. ! If for some reason the script is absent in "File -> Scripts" menu, just use "File -> Scripts -> Browse..." menu. 7. The script will ask you to select desired trail direction. There are 4 directions: up, down, left, right. You should enter the first letter of the desired direction. So, if you wish the trail to go up, enter u or U and click "OK" button. 8. It usually takes a minute or two for the script to finish its work. (Of course, the speed depends on the photo size, Photoshop version and the computer performance.) Once the script has finished its work, you can play with the Photoshop layers to tune the photo effect result. There are lots of possibilities! You can, for example: - turn the layers (and groups) on and off, - change opacity and blending mode of layers (and groups), - move, rotate and scale the layers, - duplicate the layers (and groups), - ... (use your imagination and experience). ! I strongly recommend to experiment with the layers. Just a minute or two and you can create multiple variations of the photo effect and select the best one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUGGESTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are not satisfied with the photo effect result, first of all try to modify the "brush" layer. Brush larger (or smaller) area, try harder or softer brush. Save the previous result to a separate file (just in case), delete "Trail ..." groups and then run the script again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TROUBLESHOOTING ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the script does not work, shows error messages or produce some wrong result, please: 1. Read the "REQUIREMENTS" section above. Check all the requirements. The Photoshop version, language, the image color mode etc. 2. Too dark or too light photos may not work good. If you have such a photo, try to change its levels, brightness/contrast and/or color range before using the script. 3. If multiple documents are open with Photoshop, close them. Open only the photo you wish to process with the script. Close other unneeded programs to free up RAM. 4. In case of errors (especially some strange ones), try to reset Photoshop preferences. To do this, hold down Alt + Ctrl + Shift keys (Mac: Command + Option + Shift) while starting up Photoshop. You'll see a dialog box asking if you wish to delete the preferences. If you need any help with the script, feel free to contact me. Good luck with your creative projects! PurePerfection https://web.newzbin.org
