SUMMARY
Inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel Around the World in Eighty Days, British comedian and travel documentarian Michael Palin sets off on an ambitious journey to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days—without using airplanes. Following Phileas Fogg’s fictional route as closely as possible, Palin uses only traditional forms of transportation such as trains, ships, and even a balloon at one point. Along the way, he experiences different cultures, encounters unexpected obstacles, and showcases the beauty and challenges of travel in the late 20th century.
